While most of North America hates the very word snow at this point, Utah's been short sheeted in terms of winter...until now. Took a run up to Snowbird yesterday...had to take the ski bus as no vehicles were allowed..lots full! In any case, the Canyon was closed mid day for avalanche control. And no doubt! 33 F, warm winds, wind-loaded slopes, heavy new wet powder followed by rain. A lot of fun- if you watch yourself. As the flats had had almost no winter this year, it was fun to be in the midst of this storm, even as many boarders and skiiers gave the slopes a miss and headed home because it was (as quoted by the pair walking by) blasting up top.
