The Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has thanked the people of Sindh in particular and the people of Pakistan in general on observing a highly successful day of mourning on the extra-judicial killing of Salman Nooruddin and other workers of the MQM. The committee said that the manner in which Salman Nooruddin was killed extra-judicially after being subjected to inhuman torture in custody was highly condemnable.
The MQM had announced a day of mourning on the brutal extra-judicial killing of Salman Nooruddin on which people across Sindh, including traders, transporters, petrol pump owners extended full support. People have shown to the rulers by observing the historic Day of Mourning that they rejected extra-judicial killings, oppression, torture and barbarism.
The Co-ordination Committee thanked market associations, transport associations, petrol pumps and CNG owners associations and private school management associations for closing their business voluntarily and registering their protest against injustice.
The Co-ordination Committee said that it was fully aware of the problems being faced by common people. It appealed to the transporters, petrol pump owners, shopkeepers, daily wage-earners and market associations to resume their business activities after 2:00 pm.
The Co-ordination Committee said that after 2:00 pm the Day of Mourning should be restricted to offering recitation of the Holy Quran and fateha for Salman Nooruddin and other martyrs of the MQM.
