'Biggest Loser' winner Rachel Fredrickson loses too much weight for Internet trolls

Rachel Fredrickson won the latest season of The Biggest Loser after losing nearly 60 percent of her body weight for the $250,000 prize, but now Internet trolls are criticizing her for losing too much weight.

The 5-foot-4, 24-year-old Fredrickson was originally 260 pounds, but was able to get down to 105 pounds with the show's exercise program, diet regimen and time spent on her own before the season finale. Frederickson was a three-time state swimming champion at Stillwater Area High School in Minnesota, but turned to sweets after depression from a failed relationship.

Frederickson's new body set the Twittersphere ablaze on Wednesday, with many viewers pointing out the shocked expressions on the faces of trainers Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper. Idiots on Twitter said that she looked anorexic and unhealthy, while others gave her props for shedding 155 pounds.

Rachel's body mass index is below the normal range, but criticizing Fredrickson isn't helping at all says Jillian Lampert, senior director of the Emily Program, an eating disorder treatment program located in St. Paul, Minnesota.

"As a society we often criticize people for being at higher weights — that's part of why we have the TV show The Biggest Loser — and then we feel free to criticize lower weight," Lampert said. "We certainly see a lot of people who struggle with eating disorders who use the same behaviors on that show to an extreme," she said. "That can't be helpful."
