One would assume cops and firefighters work together seamlessly. However things don’t always go down smoothly.

Authorities from the California Highway Patrol and Chula Vista Fire Department recently butted heads while responding to a vehicular accident on a South Bay Interstate.

The Fire Department’s engineer Jacob Gregoire was one of the men who arrived on the scene. But he was taken into custody and handcuffed by a California Patrol Officer.

The two males reportedly got into a heated argument over where the fire engine should have been parked. The cop had previously told firefighters to move three of the department’s vehicles out of the fast lane.

Two fire department workers complied with that request but Gregoire refused to take the time to find another spot. Instead he responded to the accident victims and continued to render aid. The cop was not happy.

He pulled Gregoire to the side, handcuffed him and placed him the back of the squad car for about half an hour. Although Gregoire was released after that, local residents have made their outrage towards the officer known.

Following the incident, the fire chief praised Gregoire for attending to the victims. It is not known if the cop will face any disciplinary action.
