Occasionally, cops must resort to desperate measures in order to stop a driver. An officer in Irving, Texas intentionally crashed his squad car in one final attempt to make a woman pull over.

The bizarre ordeal began on a Tuesday night. Cops were dispatched to a section of the state highway after calls came in regarding a car driving in the wrong direction.

Police arrived on the interstate and quickly learned the female driver wasn't going to make things easy. The cops tried numerous times to get her attention. She just continued cruising on the wrong side of the road at speeds up to 80 miles per hour.

Several times, the woman nearly collided with oncoming vehicles. Officers laid down spike strips. They did in fact slow the car down, but the driver still refused to stop.

She then gave one cop in particular an opportunity. As the woman attempted to pass him, the officer intentionally maneuvered to the side and pushed her vehicle into the center wall, rendering it immobile.

The female was identified as Julia Crain Brooks. She told cops the reason for not stopping was because she didn’t want to return to rehab. Brooks was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and evading arrest.
