Daily Delights Unwrapping the Gift of Gratitude

I was waiting for the perfect day to take my poppy photos before the end of the season. The weather had turned cold so day after day the poppies remained closed. This was such a great year for poppies and I was becoming anxious that I wouldn’t get the photos that I desired. Finally, we were leaving on vacation and I couldn’t wait any longer. I rushed out to the poppy fields only to discover a wonderful surprise. Due to the cold weather God had painted the perfect backdrop. The mountains behind the poppies were covered with snow.
I was so grateful to not only get my poppy photos but also the uniqueness of this year with the snow-covered backdrop. Then, I recognized God was doing something much deeper in my heart. On the first Sunday in January, our pastor shared what he believed was God’s special verse for us this year. It said, ““You crown the year with your bounty, and your carts OVERFLOW with abundance.” Psalm 65:11
I had no idea what that meant but I didn’t want to miss out. When I was staring at photos of the beautiful poppy fields, I knew God was revealing His abundance to me. It was a gift. He had wrapped it up and given it to me. Now, it was my turn to unwrap it and share it with others.
William Ward says.
“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.
