Russian vodka kills Russian men. British scientists concluded as a result of their recent study that the alcohol consumption trend in Russia had changed considerably during the recent 30 years, depending on bans and restrictions.
In addition, the scientists found that tobacco exacerbates the effect of alcohol.
For their study, the scientists chose three cities far beyond the Russian capital. The British sociologists went to Barnaul, Tomsk and Biisk. They found these Siberian regions most suitable for the research.
The researchers interviewed 50,000 families of recently deceased men. In particular, they were interested how frequently their deceased male relatives were drinking vodka. It turned out that those males leading an inactive way of life, died before they turned 60.
