Action-movie director Michael Bay is making headlines at the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas for all the wrong reasons after he was slated to be the big guest speaker for Samsung, but instead flubbed his lines and ran off of stage instead.
The "Bad Boys" director was supposed to be one of the highlights of the Samsung presentation, but after an issue with the teleprompter, Bay lost it and obviously had no idea what product he was actually there to promote. For those that are wondering, Bay was supposed to be there to hype up Samsung's new curved UHD TVs.
The blockbuster movie director was introduced with "Transformers" footage and said, "My job as a director is I get to dream for a living. I create visual worlds that are so beyond everyone's normal life experiences, and Hollywood is a place that creates a viewer escape, and what I try to do as a director is I try to..."
He then trailed off and added, " The type is all off. Sorry, but I'll just wing this." And then he did the exact opposite. He then said, "I try to take people on an emotional ride, and ..." and trailed off again.
After his implosion on stage, Bay took to the internet to explain himself. "Wow! I just embarrassed myself at CES. I got so excited to talk, that I skipped over the Exec VP's intro line and then the teleprompter got lost. Then the prompter went up and down - then I walked off. I guess live shows aren't my thing."
How hard is it to make up some stuff about a huge curved TV? Bay was probably waiting for some huge explosions and some slo-mo of hot girls who can't act to come to his rescue.
