New data from the Kepler Space Telescope suggests that there could be billions of Earth-like planets in our galaxy. How awesome is that?

So how did they detect these Earth-like planets which are light years away? The Kepler telescope looked at 42,000 sun like-stars, looking for a planet to cross over the host star. Through this planet going across the host star you are able to detect how far away the star is from the host star and how big it is through two simple methods.
