The male in Northern Italy reportedly spent as much as two years finding chubby cats from local shelters. He had certain requirements and often asked for black cats that were around 3 years of age.
Over the months, the man accumulated approximately 15 plump felines. Eventually authorities at an Italian animal welfare association began to suspect something was wrong after the cat owner repeatedly declined follow up interviews and visits to check that the animals were receiving proper care.
Initially, workers suspected the man was taking part in satanic rituals so they decided to conduct a surprise, unannounced visit. It was during that check they caught him red handed. The man was just about to kill one of his cats for consumption.
He later admitted to killing the pets and occasionally “eating them in the company of friends" The man was quickly arrested for animal abuse.
