Thai elections to be held as scheduled

Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has announced countrywide elections will go forward as planned on February 2nd.

She made the decision despite a recommendation from the Electoral Commission to delay voting due to security concerns.

Outside the facility where Tuesday's meeting was held, shots were fired injuring two people, opposition officials said.

Months of protests by anti-government protesters have disrupted Bangkok and brought the country dangerously close to collapse.

After declaring a state of emergency last week, the government has now issued an ultimatum to protest leaders that they face arrest by this Thursday unless they stand down.
