Let me be perfectly clear: in no way is the United Nations capable of making demands of the United States (or any other major nation for that matter) and it certainly doesn't have the authority a landlord holds over a renter. President Mead's comments are either highly suspect or else highly revealing regarding how much has changed--even more so than the fact that the UN now has an in-house enforcement agency.
