Recently, Germans were shocked to discover the existence of 1,200 paintings and works of art that had been confiscated during World War II from mainly Jewish owners, and kept in a Munich apartment owned by one Cornilius Gurlitt. But for those descendants fighting to reclaim possessions confiscated by the Nazis, the real scandal was that the collection had in fact been discovered 18 months before.
Some accuse the German government of not doing enough to right the wrongs of the Nazi regime.
