Four people were killed in a bomb blast in Beirut on Tuesday.
According to reports, a suicide bomber triggered the explosion.
The area, in the southern suburbs of Beirut, is a Shi’ite stronghold and the neighbourhood is known for its support of the political group Hezbollah.
Emergency services were soon on the scene as they ferried the wounded to hospital. Firefighters battled to keep crowds at bay and quickly bring the flames under control.
The exact target of the attack wasn’t clear, but tensions have spilled over from neighbouring Syria where President Bashar al Assad is from the Shi’ite-derived Alawite minority.
Hezbollah has sent forces across the border to help him fight the mainly Sunni rebels.
Hardline Sunni militants have retaliated by bombing Shi’ite strongholds in Lebanon.
