Hello guys. It's Jared here, a senior fitness instructor at Master of Muscle. In this video we're going to go discuss the best ways to adjust your jump rope for the best results. This is the number one step to complete before you even start jump roping.

The jump rope we're using today is a crossfit jump rope and is flexible for various heights. Some individuals like their rope a little longer and some individuals like their rope a little shorter. The trick is to get it right for you, so you can jump correctly and quick each time. So, put your foot right in the middle of your jump rope so that it's equal between both handles. You do not want the jump rope to be above your collar bone but you also want it to be above the upper part of your abdominals.

So I have mine set just right above the top of my pectorals, so, below my collar bone but also above my abdominals. I prefer my jump rope just a little on the on the longer side. I suggest keeping yours on the long side at first so if you do not like it, you can always shorten it later.

So, your jump rope is going to be quite long when you first get it. To adjust it, there's 2 little metal modification screws. It's very basic, unscrew them to the left and it's going to loosen the screw. Adjust the tops of the handles to your height as I revealed earlier, ensuring it's above your upper abdominals and below your collar bone. Merely simply adjust it to where you like it. All you have to do is turn the screw to the right to lock it back in to place. So, make certain both sides of your jump rope are even. Not above your collar bone and above your upper abdominals. So that's it - your jump rope is now adjusted. Look into the next video in our series to see the best ways to start to jump rope correctly.
