It is interesting isn't it? We go through school and we are told that we should aspire to go to university.
Well at least I was anyway.
All that time and energy and resources spent looking at university league tablesand visiting various places.
Then spending 3 years doing a media degree, a course which I didn't really
want to do but couldn't find anything else that interested me.
All because I lived under the belief that I had to go to university, to get a good
job, build my career and have a decent life.
10 years later, my perspective on University and that whole way of thinking has completely
changed.
I recently had a reunion with a group of about 25 of my university friends (one of the good things that came out of university). I asked all of them who was actually doing
anything related to their university course.
Everybody laughed at me!
That is crazy!
Out of those 25+ people, only 1 person was actually doing what she studied to do.
Most of the others were in jobs they don't particularly enjoy and most of them
are just struggling to get by financially.
It made me wonder, what on earth did we all go to university for?
Now I am self-employed doing what I love, and making money online.
My university had nothing to do with this!
However, I still believe very much in education, but the right education.
Education that actually enables you to make money (a lot of it) and live
the lifestyle you actually want to live.
