Veteran Actor Suchitra Sen PASSES AWAY

Legendary actress Suchitra Sen sadly passed away on January 17, 2014, at the age of 82 in Kolkata's hospital. The actress, who is one of the leading lights of the golden age of Bengali cinema and also made her mark in Hindi cinema, was admitted in hospital since December 23. She was being treated for a respiratory tract infection, and was dependent on oxygen support.
Suchitra Sen commenced her career with an unreleased Bengali film Shesh Kothai in 1952, and is known to Hindi film audiences for her roles in Bimal Roy's Devdas and Gulzar's Aandhi. The actress was also the first Indian actress to be honoured at an international film festival, winning Best Actress for Saptapadi at the Moscow Film Festival in 1963.
Suchitra Sen was married to Dibanath Sen, who hails from one of Kolkata's most prominent business families. She is survived by her daughter Moon Moon Sen and grand-daughters Raima Sen and Riya Sen, who all three are actresses.
