Me playing the organ at Salem Chapel in Ponciau, Rhossllanerchrugog near Wrexham, Denbighshire.
In the late 1960s, Compton introduced the 'Cantata' electrone model which was basically an upgrade to the 'CH2' which this replaced. At Salem the organ has both the standard internal speakers and also the Compton patent 'rotofon' speaker at the back of the church which on these models was an optional extra.
For this first video im playing the hymn 'I will sing the wondrous story' to the tune 'Calon Lan' in keeping with the Welsh spirit! In this video im using the external rotofon speaker.
These organs are fast becoming extinct with many churches replacing them with digital instruments etc. Modern technology is indeed appealing with its realistic sampled sounds but history is being lost as a result. Opportunities should be taken to see that these unique instruments are preserved for future generations to experience how technology worked in the pre digital era.
Many thanks to organist Gareth Williams for allowing me access to this now rare model of Compton electrone organ.

REQUEST: I am always on the lookout for Compton organs to play - particularly electrones - so if you know of any churches which still have these then please do let me know. I will happily give a donation or pay any applicable room hire charge.
