You never know what’s crawling on or in your body while you sleep. One man in Sydney, Australia woke up to extreme pain in his right ear.
It was later discovered the cause of the discomfort was due to a cockroach that had crawled through his into canal. Prior to knowing the roach had taken over his ear, Hendrik Helmer got out of bed and probed around in there trying to find out what was wrong.
The pain got progressively worse, so bad in fact that he grabbed a vacuum and tried to suck the unknown insect out. When that failed, he squirted water in his ear.
The home remedies proved to be useless. That’s when his roommate took him to the nearest hospital.
Medical staff soon found out the culprit causing all the pain was a roach. A doctor flushed some oil down the canal, which forced the roach to crawl in even deeper.
Eventually forceps were used and the nearly one-inch long cockroach was successfully pulled out. Helmer claimed he will continue on sleeping without ear protection, but friends of him who know about the disgusting ordeal said they would be snoozing with headphones on.
