In the Canadian province of Quebec, proposed restrictions on public servants displaying religious symbols at work have sparked fierce debate.
Under its "Charter of Values," the Quebec government wants to stop civil servants from wearing what it calls ostentatious religious symbols, such as hijabs, Sikh turbans, Jewish kippas and large crucifixes.
