Flames ripped through an ancient Tibetan town in southwest China's Shangri-la county.
The fire was in the heart of the town of Dukezong, burning down wooden buildings, some as old as 1,000 years, dating back to the Tang Dynasty.
Around 100 houses were destroyed.
The fire lasted about 10 hours, with more than 1,000 people trying to save the well preserved buildings. A dry spell aggravated the blaze.
There were no casualties reported and residents were evacuated in time.
Shangri-la county is a popular tourist destination in China, named after the fictional paradise. It is nestled at a 3,000 metre high plateau that overlooks lush mountains.
