Drinking and driving with a child in the vehicle is an unfathomable act for most parents. A man, Franklin Jackson is now in police custody after he allegedly crashed his car while intoxicated.

Jackson had been traveling down the Dan Ryan Expressway in Chicago with his 4-year-old son. According to the police, his wife and three other young children were also in the car. After the vehicle struck a guardrail, the little boy was ejected through the back window.

The child was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt. He landed on a grassy embankment off the highway. Sadly, the boy did not survive the impact.

Despite the opening in the rear window, Franklin drove away from the accident site, completely unaware that his son was no longer with him. The dad later pulled into a gas station to check the damage on his car. At that time he realized the boy was missing.

Jackson drove back to the scene of the crash and found police there.

There was an empty vodka bottle, an unopened beer can and an empty beer container in the auto. 46-year-old Jackson admitted to drinking. He was arrested and charged with ‘reckless homicide and aggravated driving under the influence’.
