It was South America's largest rubbish dump, providing a livelihood for thousands of workers through recycling. But in 2012, the Gramacho landfill site in Rio de Janeiro was closed down for good. So what has become of its trash pickers, one year on? Nicolas Ransom and Frédéric Gardair went to find out - and found many living in dire poverty, still waiting for compensation from the government.
