A deadly blast of arctic air gripped the United States Midwest, and moved eastwards on Tuesday.
Travel was paralyzed as drivers dealt with snowy and icy road conditions, leaving some vehicles stranded on the highway. Thousands of flights were canceled across the country.
There's frigid temperatures, and then there's the wind-chill.
New York's Central Park hit a record low of 4 degrees Fahrenheit (or minus 16 Celsius), but high winds made it feel even colder. Commuters tried their best to beat the cold, bundled up in Times Square.
Moving south, Washington, DC residents were dealing with abnormally low temperatures.
