One of the most well known athletes in the U.S. won't be going to the Sochi Olympics after all.
Skiing superstar Lindsey Vonn took to social media Tuesday to announce a hurt knee will keep her from competing at the upcoming Games.
She re-injured her right knee in December in France. Her publicist says a ligament sprain on top of previous knee injuries makes it impossible to safely ski next month.
Vonn is scheduled to have surgery soon.
Her publicist says she's expected to make a full recovery in time for the 2014/15 World Cup season and the 2015 World Alpine Ski Championships in Vail-Beaver Creek.
