The website recently announced that the Siam Paragon mall was the number 1 “most instagrammed” place among Netizens in 2013.
Instagram refers to the destination as a “massive shopping complex, movie theater and aquarium”. The mall, which officially opened in 2005, encompasses roughly 20 acres.
Due to the size and tourist attracting features at the establishment, Instagram users post differing photos including shots of the gorgeous exterior, images of rare artwork for sale and videos taken at the aquarium, which is said to be the largest in all of Southeast Asia.
2012’s winner for the most instagrammed place was also in Bangkok – the International airport. MasterCard conducted a recent study which found that the city welcomed more international visitors in 2013 than any other place in the world, which quite possibly attributes to Bangkok’s internet popularity.
