ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)

Widespread flooding following heavy rain, high tides and strong winds in the United Kingdom has left large areas under water on Sunday (January 5).

In Sunbury-on-Thames, south of London, the River Thames had burst its banks, flooding a park and submerging a children's playground.

In Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, in the southwest of England, roads, car parks and trees were also under water.

Weather warnings across the UK from the Meteorological Office were in place on Sunday, although all severe warnings were lifted. The UK national forecasting service said recent storms made December the stormiest month in 20 years in records dating back to 1969.
