In this guitar lesson, Jon MacLennan will teach you a basic guitar chord progression which is some of the most commonly used in pop music. In this case it is in the style of The Beatles. Regarding chords, if you are a beginner, I suggest that you start learning them starting with one chord at a time and before playing the next one make sure you can play it easily, with a clean sound. Once you have all the chords down, you can start with chord progressions but don't worry about strumming at this point, just play 4 downstrokes for each guitar chord or just one strum and count 4 beats for each one. The next step is trying to emulate what I´m doing here, which is something pretty easy and basic. Let me explain what Jon is doing: In each bar we have 4 beats, on the first and second beat we play just 1 strum, then in the 3rd beat I play 2 strums with shuffle rhythm. And the last beat we just play 1 strum, then repeat this guitar pattern through out all the progression. Try to get the clearest sound you can and also once you have this down, try the same with another guitar chord progression!
Ok, hope this guitar lesson helps! That is all for today... And ofcourse, I suggest that you keep enjoying and learning from Jon MacLennan and all the staff of Guitarcontrol.com! Where? In our free guitar lessons at www.youtube.com/guitarcontrol
