In this guitar lesson, Jon MacLennan will teach you a basic chord progression which is some of the most commonly used in pop music. And also we will add a rockish strumming pattern to make it more powerful. About the chords, if you are a beginner, I suggest that you start learning them. Begin with one chord at a time, before starting with the next one make sure you can play it easily and also you can get a clean sound from it. Once you have all the chords down, you can start with chord progressions but don't worry about strumming at this point, just play 4 downstrokes for each chord or just one strum and count 4 beats for each one. The next step is trying to emulate what I´m doing here, which is something pretty easy and basic. Let me explain what I am doing: In each bar we have 4 beats, on the first and second beat I play just 1 strum, then in the next 2 bars, two strums for each one. Then repeat this pattern through out all the progression. Try to get the clearest sound you can and also once you have this down, try the same with another chord progression!
Ok, hope this helps! That is all for today... And ofcourse, I suggest that you keep enjoying and learning from Jon MacLennan and all the staff of Guitarcontrol.com! Where? In our free guitar lessons at www.youtube.com/guitarcontrol
