In one horrible incident, over 70 wreaths were taken from a memorial home in Vineland, New Jersey.

Making the theft even more atrocious is that fact that they were stolen the Friday before Christmas. All the wreaths were resting on the graves of veterans.

Members of a local rotary club were responsible for placing over 500 wreaths complete with red ribbons down on the graves earlier in the month of December. What started out as an absolute tragedy, however, turned into something heartwarming.

Instead of just letting it go, both residents and business owners in Cumberland County have joined forces to replace them. Three local ShopRite owners have supplied the wreaths and donations were made to do the same with the ribbons.

The suspects responsible for the crime have been able to evade police thus far. It’s currently believed the wreaths were taken at some point during the night.

No surveillance footage captured the theft. An activities director at the Memorial Home stated “It’s a disgrace to take these away from our heroes. It’s such a majestic way to honor our veterans.”

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact the Vineland Police Department.
