This bag of explosives and two guns were discovered along the road to the court where Pakistan's former President Pervez Musharraf was due to face trial for treason.
Police said the material had not been assembled into a bomb but still security was on high alert.
Around a dozen paramilitary officers were stationed outside the National Library, where the hearing was due to take place.
Lawyers said Musharraf couldn't attend and the hearing was postponed until January first.

"At the very offset, we moved an application and we brought to the notice of the honourable court that General Musharraf presence is not possible because of the security hassles, and security hazards. And we also brought to the notice of the court that today 5 kilograms of explosive has been found very close to his house and certain weapons have also been recovered. "
