The United Nations said it will need nearly $13 billion in aid in 2014 during a press conference in Geneva on December 16. According to Valerie Amos, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator: “This year we aim to reach at least 52 million people with essential life-saving aid including millions of Syrians who are displaced and in urgent need of food, shelter and healthcare.”
