O'Toole, Fontaine die; Critics' Choice nominations announced

Hollywood mourned the death of two acting legends over the weekend. First, Peter O'Toole died in London after a long illness. The honorary-Oscar winner shot to international fame in the 1962 movie "Lawrence of Arabia." He went on to have a career than spanned more than 50 years on film and stage. He was 81.

Secondly, Oscar-winning actress Joan Fontaine passed away in California. Star of Alfred Hitchcock's classics "Rebecca" and "Suspicion," Fontaine died of natural causes. She was 96.

The nominations for the Critics' Choice awards have been announced and it was a tie. Steve McQueen's "12 Years a Slave" received 13 nods - as did David O. Russell's "American Hustle." Both films garnered nominations in the best film and director categories and for lead and supporting performances.

Finally, a small hobbit racked up big sales at movie box offices during the weekend, generating 205 million dollars at theaters around the world. "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,"
