The cast of the family drama "August: Osage County" reunite on the red carpet in New York.
The movie's release during the holidays, arguably the high season for family dysfunction, will give moviegoers a chance to compare their clans with the calamitous Westons of Oklahoma.
They include a pill-popping mother played by Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts as her bitter daughter.
Only the wise uncle, played by Chris Cooper, appears somewhat normal in this film adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play of the same name.
SOUNDBITE: Chris Cooper, actor, saying (English):
"I relate to everything Uncle Charlie. I had a son who I had to look after and defend. And who people didn't look at as a whole child. And I grew up four hours from the spot that we shot this film. I raised cattle with my father. The country felt very familiar. These type of people felt very familiar."
The film has earned Golden Globe and SAG nominations for Julie Roberts and Meryl Streep,
