Super Bowl 48 organizers have laid down some ground rules for attendees, which include restrictions on how fans are to go about tailgating.
It hasn’t been expressly forbidden, but doing so while complying with the MetLife Stadium parking lot restrictions is sure to present challenges.
Among the largest is that only a third of attendees can park in the stadium lot, as only 13 thousand spaces will be in use.
Also significant is that the use of grills and chairs has been prohibited.
Al Kelly, the CEO of the event, made it clear that tailgating per se has not been banned, people are just going to have to go about it differently.
He said, “provided you're in the boundaries of a single parking space, you'll be able to eat or drink right next to your car.”
It doesn’t appear that using the heat from a car engine to cook meat has been prohibited, as long as the chef doesn’t cross into another space while doing it.
Plus, being forced to sit in a heated car from time to time might not be all bad, considering temps will probably be around the freezing point.
