The founder and leader of MQM Mr. Altaf Hussain has said that development of social values in a society, establishment of system based on justice and equality, and unity among different groups of people in a society requires respect of human rights.
On the International Day of Human Rights Mr. Hussain said, “The world has achieved progress and advancement in the twenty-first century, but it is a matter of regret that despite democracy in our country we see human rights violations in different forms. The most glaring example of human rights violation is forced disappearances of political workers. ”
Mr. Hussain said that these detainees were not produced in courts, which was denial of their basic fundamental rights. He added that we were witnessing violations of human rights in the country because of the outmoded feudal system and customs such as honour killings and vanni.
He said that the situation of human rights violation would not improve in Pakistan unless we eliminate feudal system and outmoded customs.
