Crowds gathered outside Cape Town’s City Hall on Friday, December 6, the morning after the death of Nelson Mandela. The former South African president and anti-apartheid icon was 95 years old. President Jacob Zuma announced Mandela’s death, saying “our nation has lost its greatest son. Our people have lost a father.” City Hall is the location where Archbishop Desmond Tutu first presented a newly elected President Mandela to the world in 1994. Credit: YouTube/Tzviatko Chiderov
