The London group released Rastus Ravel (Is A Mean Old Man) on the Larry Page Penny Farthing Records (PEN 738) -- in October 1970.
The song was re-released as track 4 on the Particles (UK) label compilation album, Piccadilly Sunshine, Part Twelve -- on 2nd April 2013.
This B-side, and the A-side Sister Simon (Funny Man), were written and produced by John Edward for Instant Sound Productions.
The 45 rpm single featured back-up vocals by Doris Troy with Maggie Stredder, Gloria George and Marian Davis (The Ladybirds) - plus, Rick Wakeman played the piano on this B-side.
Heatwave was a regular on the BBC Radio Terry Wogan, Dave Cash, Kenny Everett, Jimmy Young, Dave Lee Travis and Radio One Club shows in 1969, 1970 and 1971.
The California Ballroom, Dunstable, and The Cavern Club, Liverpool, were but two of many venues played where, in addition to a solid dance beat and tight vocal harmonies, the group was also known for its pyrotechnic display (fire-eating by Martin).
