The European Union Eastern Partnership Summit kicks off today in Lithuania. It's a big day for the tiny Republic of Moldova, which is set to sign a free trade deal and partnership agreement with the bloc. Sandwiched between Romania and Ukraine, Moldova was a territory of Romania until it was annexed by the USSR in 1945 and became a Soviet state. Now many Moldovans want to be reunited with Romania, thus gaining automatic entry into the EU - and Bucharest is actively helping them.
