Find the best financial services for you at: SMARTFINANCESOLUTIONS.NET - Can you pay off a federal student loan, even if it is not included in your chapter 13 bankruptcy? - I have a federal student loan from when I went to school in 2003. I'm trying to get into school now, but the only thing that's holding me back is that loan. In order for the school to give me the Hope, which i am eligible for, then I have to pay off the loan. The issue is my bankruptcy attorney. They said they can't give me permission to pay outside my bankruptcy.

The loan is not covered under bankruptcy because it's a federal loan. I'm also not the one making the payment. -
