A change in government in Tehran made last weekend’s nuclear deal in Geneva possible.
An EU official said the EU managed to get an agreement as a result.
“Catherine Ashton has been negotiating on the behalf of the E3+3 for a number of years on this issue and now with the new government it has been possible to make much more progress whereas the previous government was not really interesting in engaging.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu branded the deal “a historic mistake”.”
Experts say his hardline stance failed.
“The fact is Israel is not used to negotiating, where negotiation is a real negotiation, where both sides make compromises.
“If the agreement coincided with Israeli wishes that we have conceded absolutely nothing to Iran.
“So suddenly such an agreement would not have been possible. Both the United States and the Europeans understood that. “
