My husband has been on unemployment due to losing his job in Utah but then a couple of weeks ago we were told that cause he worked like 4-5 months in Nevada in 08 he was supposed to have filed in Nevada. So we've been trying to file a back claim and everything was going well but then the case manager said she needed to verify his previous employment. He had a temp job for 2 weeks and after there were some mix-ups on the dates we finally straightened that out and then she said that she had to verify the employer before cause he was with that temp job for less then 16 wks. The problem is that company is no longer in business, they filed bankruptcy. So now she said they have to contact Utah to verify wages from that previous employer cause things aren't matching up. The problem is we don't remember when he quit/laid off ( he wasn't working/getting paid so he quit cause he wasn't working/getting paid) and we can't get any proof cause the company no longer exists. We just received about 3 days ago a W-2 from this company but it's from when he received some money that was owed to him and he got the checks while he was on unemployment so now I'm afraid they're thinking it's fraud but it's not. It's not our fault that we got screwed over by a guy that instead of paying his bills and paying his employees went out and spent the money on buying new trucks, guns and paid for his swimming pool. Why are we getting punished for his mistakes? He still owes us over 3500 dollars which we'll never see. What I don't understand is why it matters to Nevada what happens in Utah AFTER he no longer worked in their state? Shouldn't the claim only be about what/why he left Nevada?? I'm asking for help or advice on trying to resolve this issue, it's not like they teach in school how to file for unemployment and this is something that we've never done before. Why do they make it so hard for people to get assistance from the government when they really deserve it?! It's not like my husband is just sitting on the couch watching football everyday, he's out there everyday applying for jobs, going to interview, do whatever he can to get a job and take care of his family. -
