The Union Cabinet approved a proposal to transfer land orginally owned by Indu Mill to the Maharashtra Government for constructing a memorial for Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the father of the Indian Constitution and noted Dalit leader..The Cabinet took the decision at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh..The approved proposal empowers the Centre to acquire a certain part of the mill belonging to National Textile Corporation Limited in Mumbai to construct the memorial.
