You really never know what’s hiding in ocean waters. Two fishermen in Portland, Jamaica recently reeled in a massive sunfish that weighed between 800 and 900 pounds.
The men struggled to pull the fish onboard their ship for about an hour and a half. When the task proved to be nearly impossible, they opted to tie it to the boat and pull it to the shore. They changed their mind once they noticed the vessel was drastically slowed down in the towing efforts.
They tried yet again to pull the sunfish onboard, while water flooded the floor of the ship. After some time, they were able to successfully tug the 900 pounder from the water.
One of the males, Desmond Phillips stated “When I realized what it was that we had caught, I said to my partner, Michael Grant, who is the boat captain, maybe we should release it. At first, I thought it was an alien and I was somewhat frightened."
When the pair finally arrived on the beach at Bryans Bay, they were greeted by numerous onlookers who were shocked the size of the sunfish.
