Find the best financial services for you at: SMARTFINANCESOLUTIONS.NET - Can my Landlord Collect Rent while in Foreclosure? - Recently, I came home to see a note on my door from my bank, stating that the Townhome I live in, is going to auction.

(I live in California)

After consulting with Real Estate Professionals, they told me to not pay my rent. Based off of the fact that the landlord, who has my deposit, is in foreclosure and most like, Bankruptcy. To which I can't get my deposit back.

It is really close to the Auction date for the home and the other day, the property management company came to my house and wanted the rent.

I found it very interesting that he came over on the 5th at 10am, when usually I pay my rent between the 5th and 10th.

So I refused to pay.

He stated that he was going to collect the money and not give it to the landlord. But hold it and if it does sell at auction, he'll give it back.

What do I do? What if he doesn't give it back? What if he pockets it? What if the bank wants the rent? What can I do and what are my rights? -
