Several residents in Salt Lake City recently encountered a badly injured burglar. The unnamed suspect, who is reportedly a 20-year-old male, broke a window of a private residence in an effort to gain illegal entry into the home.

However as he tried to slide through the makeshift opening, the would-be burglar cut himself on the glass, causing a severe, deep laceration on one arm. Instead of dealing with the pain and carrying out the intended crime, the man walked into the house and cried for help.

The adult residents inside the home heard his screams and decided to render aid. They also wisely called 911.

One of the occupants took the suspect into the bathroom to clean off the wound. Emergency authorities took him to the hospital where he was listed to be in critical condition, as he reportedly sliced an artery. He is expected to recover.

He will be placed into police custody after his release on suspicion of burglary. The alleged crook reportedly had one of the resident’s video game console’s in his hand after the bungled break in, but he told the homeowner that he had only entered the house because he was being chased.
