Be careful about where you eat because one wrong choice can land you in trouble. In one area of Spain, cops seem to be targeting bicycle riders.

Recently a man in central Sabadell received a hefty fine for eating a croissant while cycling to work. Ivan González has decided to appeal the citation which amounted to $135.

González had been pedaling away, headed towards his place of employment, when an officer flagged him down. The cop pointed out he shouldn’t be eating his breakfast while maneuvering a bicycle and cited reckless driving as a reason for the ticket.

According to González, other police authorities at the local station were baffled for the exceptionally high fine. It's currently suspected the reason for the seemingly bizarre citation and other cracking down methods in the local area are both related to a new legislation in which drivers hold a license based on points.

Motorists are automatically given 12 points, but can lose them at any time for minor infractions involving distractions such as talking on a cell phone. It seems eating can also be added to the list of potential point reducers.
