I am a newlywed, havent changed my name yet, and all my debt was accrued before marriage. The bankriptcy attorney told me today that my husband owuldnt be involved since it was before we were married and our house's loan isnt in my name and doesnt have equity anyway. I wouldnt surrender my car, though, I would keep it and keep paying. Nothing is under both our names, car is my name only. I'm not worried about not being able to buy another home or cafr in the next few years, but I would like to shield my husband from dealing with it, which the attny said will happen.
Anyone have any experiences/knowledge they could share with me regarding chapter 7 in general and your experiences with it, filing when you were a newlywed, etc.? -
