We have not been able to go back in to our neighborhood and will likely not be able to go back in for 2-3 weeks. The flood waters covered our entire house and more. Likely, the house will not be able to be fixed at that point. We did not have flood insurance unfortunately. We have not had major flooding in our area since 1881. We will be able to get some financial assistance, but it will not be enough to cover the costs of the mortgage that we will likely have to walk away from. We only owned the house for 2 years and owe about $190,000 on it. Do we need to file bankruptcy? I know we need to wait until we find out about any grants or assistance, but we need to have some sort of idea of how to proceed. -
