Interactive. The Arkham series returns for its third installment in Batman: Arkham Origins. Following up the massively popular Arkham City and Arkham Asylum, Arkham Origins is a prequel that features a young Batman who’s still a little rough around the edges. He’s also never heard of this Joker guy yet—wait ’til he gets a load of him! The game takes focuses on a young and somewhat inexperienced Batman. The evil villain Black Mask has placed a bounty on his head, prompting eight of the world’s deadliest villains and assassins to come after Batman. The gameplay is similar to the prior entries in the series, featuring a massive open world to explore and fluid, counter-based beat ‘em up mechanics. As Batman builds attack combinations, more maneuvers become available, including vicious takedowns and knockouts. Players can counter attacks with a well-timed press of a button, causing Batman to catch punches and kicks seemingly out of nowhere. Batman: Arkham Origins also includes multiplayer, which is a first in the Arkham series. This video review features video gameplay footage of Batman: Arkham Origins for the PlayStation 3 and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
